A couple of months ago, Evva and I attended an event called Tech Cities. At this conference we learned that Minnesota has a lot of well-established technical businesses, which require a highly educated and talented workforce. Unfortunately, data presented at the conference by LinkedIn showed that our local high-tech video game industry is losing talent at a high rate.

After seeing this, we took action to find partners that could help us study the local landscape. Soon afterwards, we met Matt Lewis and Carolyn Bates from GreaterMSP , a local non-profit that is dedicated to growing the economy of the 16-county Minneapolis Saint Paul region. Carolyn and Matt have been invaluable resources and we are fortunate to have had their help in designing the study.

With GreaterMSP’s support, we are currently gathering data similar to what was presented in the Electronic Software Association’s 2015 Report on Video Games in the 21st Century. However, our study will focus solely on Minnesota and provide much more detail on the people who work in the industry and information on supporting industries.

This survey is being conducted as a part of the study described above. The information from this survey will be used to track industry growth, develop programs, and explore new opportunities to improve the local industry. The results of this survey will be published on our website in the coming months.

The survey will take under 5 minutes to complete and all responses are completely anonymous.
